12 Newbie Vaping Mistakes To Avoid
When you first start vaping it is easy to make mistakes, but you shouldn’t let these mistakes put you off using e-cigs.
Since vapes were first created they have become easier to use, and with experience and the following tips you can avoid making these vaping mistakes.
#1: Buying an advanced mod from the start. When you first start vaping it can be tempting to splash the cash on the latest device. However, this is not something that I would recommend. When you first start vaping you should choose a device that looks and acts similar to a cigarette. Choosing a device that acts in a similar fashion will make the transition from smoking much easier to bear.
#2: Choosing a poor quality e-cigarette. If you are totally new to vaping then you may not understand that choosing a cheap vape from a local market will not provide the same experience as buying a more expensive device from a reputable vape store. Often in life you get what you pay for. So buying a cheap vape may result in poor performance, poor vapour production, poor battery life and poor flavour production.
#3: Using the wrong level of nicotine. You need to be choosing a device that is able to produce enough nicotine to satisfy any cravings you may have, otherwise you will simply resort back to smoking traditional tobacco based cigarettes. It is also possible to choose a device that produces too much nicotine, but this is more rare of an occurrence.
#4: Buying the wrong flavour. Choosing the wrong flavour to start will make vaping less appealing. Luckily there are 100s of flavours to choose from, so make sure to test a few out. Once you have tried a few you will be able to choose one that you are going to enjoy.
#5: Getting the PG/VG ratio right. Most e-liquids will contain propylene glycol (PG) and vegetable glycerine (VG). These are colourless alcohols that are used when creating the vapour. The difference between the two is that PG will give you a bigger hit and more flavour, while VG is sweeter, thicker and will help produce more vapour. PG is a better choice for beginners as it is easier on the coil found in beginner vape devices. VG usually requires a more specialised coil, which makes it unsuitable for complete newbies.
#6: Make sure to follow the correct charging procedure. While it is rare to encounter problems when charging your vape, issues can still happen. You should always use the charger that came with the device, or a suitable one purchased from a reputable company. It is also advisable to avoid using damaged batteries, to leave your device charging unattended or to expose your battery to water.
#7: Avoid making mistakes when filling. Even though vapes are getting easier to fill there is still a chance of making a mistake. The main thing to avoid is spilling e-liquid down the central tube of the tank.
#8: Not changing the coil as often as you should. As your tank gets older it will become dirty and pick up debris. They can also suffer with burnt spots. Both of these can lead to the flavour of the e-liquid decreasing. To avoid this occurring you should change your coils regularly, you should also keep an eye on your tank.
#9: Avoid keeping your vape in your pocket. This very rarely happens, but when it does happen it is well publicised. Always make sure to turn off your vape before placing it in your pocket. Plus try to avoid placing your battery anywhere near other metal objects, such as your keys or coins. You may want to invest in a bag for carrying all of your vape accessories.
#10: Avoid burning out coils prematurely. Yes, your coils will burn out eventually, but you can extend their life using a few techniques. For example, you should always drip a few drops of e-liquid onto the holes on your coil, and down the centre, then allow the liquid to soak into the coil before use. Also, it is important that you use the correct power range, which will be shown in the guidelines of the device you are using.
#11: Make sure to drink plenty of water. Propylene glycol, which is found in most e-liquids can lead you to feeling dehydrated. The solution to this is to ensure you are drinking plenty of water when you vape.
#12: Don’t let your batteries run out. If you are dying for a nicotine hit then the last thing you want to wait for is your device to charge. You should have at least two sets of batteries and to keep them charged and ready at all times.
Now that you know what mistakes you should be avoiding you can start to enjoy vaping, safe in the knowledge you are not wasting money or increasing the risk of self-harm.
